Founded nine years ago, All Ability Lions began when Andrew Ferry, a passionate rugby player with disability, approached the club about creating an inclusive team. What started with just five players has grown into a thriving program that has transformed lives both on and off the rugby field. Building on this success, All Ability Lions has expanded into the community as a registered NDIS provider, extending its commitment to inclusion, independence, and meaningful support. Today, we empower more people to build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve their goals through personalised supports that create lasting connections both within the community and beyond the pitch.

At the Southern Lions Rugby Union Club in Perth, we’ve been championing something
special for the past nine years, something that transcends rugby itself. We’ve built a
community, a family, and a movement that celebrates one simple yet powerful idea:
everyone can play.
When Andrew Ferry reached out to us, a man determined to play rugby despite his
disability, it was the spark that ignited our All Abilities team. What started with just five
players has since grown into a thriving team of 25, each member unique, each member
embraced for who they are. Our goal has always been clear: break down barriers, create
opportunities, and bring rugby to people of all abilities, whether physically disabled, able-
bodied, or living with mental health challenges.
